A. Wrong, The presence of ameloblast like cells and stellate reticulum like cells exclude this possibility.
C. Wrong, the granular cell change could be seen in the epithelial compartment only. As well as the presence of active epithelium strands and nests with ameloblast like cells and stellate reticulum like cells exclude the diagnosis of odontogenic fibroma.
B. Right, the tumor is composed of anastomosing strands and nests of odontogenic epithelium with ameloblast like cells at the periphery and stellate reticulum like cells at the center. Granular cell change is evident in most of the tumor. The biological behavior and prognosis of this subtype of conventional ameloblastoma doesn’t seem to differ from the other histologic subtypes, however some studies in the literature reported a higher recurrence rate in this subtype. Therefore, the clinical significance of granular cell subtype of ameloblastoma is still under investigation.
