A. Wrong, although the lesion is composed of multiple cysts, there were no acini containing large brightly eosinophilic cytoplasmic granules (the hallmark of SPA).
B. Wrong, the lesion was composed of multiple cysts with variable epithelial lining and papillary projections; which is the cutoff feature between mucous retention cyst and cystadenoma.
C. Right, the lesion was composed of multicystic non-invasive bland neoplasm with mixed epithelial lining; showing cuboidal, oncocytic and ciliated epithelium. There was maintained lobular architecture of the minor salivary gland with entrapment of salivary tissue at the periphery. Slight papillary proliferation was observed in many fields. The documented subtypes of cystadenoma are papillary oncocytic and mucinous subtypes.
